.A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

Hello and welcome to Allen Chapel AME Church.  We pray that all is well with you and that you are staying prayed up for yourself, family, and our world at large during these challenging times of COVID-19.  We urge you to continue following the mandates issued by the federal government – i.e., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other governmental agencies, along with our state and local officials.  Your health and safety are paramount in times like these. Obedience is better than a sacrifice.  These are unprecedented times which we are living in, but God still prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. With safety in mind and the technology that we have access to, let us continue to reach out to our brothers and sisters and do good for all people, Galatians 6:10; for we are our brother’s keeper.  We are all in this together. We are Loving God, Loving Family, Loving People and Loving Community.  During these uncertain and turbulent times, we are trusting God.  For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, love and a sound mind, 2 Timothy 1:7. “Be strong and do not fear for your God is coming to destroy your enemies.  He is coming to save you,” Isaiah 35:4.  Please read for your meditation Psalm 91 for your protection and Romans Chapter 13 in response to our obedience to our elected officials and one another.

"May the Lord bless and keep you during these trying times."

ALLEN CHAPEL CELEBRATES ITS 150th ANNIVERSARY!

To God be the Glory for the Great Things He has Done!

Stop the Hatred Toward the Police

July 16, 2020

Allen Family,

Let us unite together over the next three days in prayer for our police departments.  The 13th chapter of Roman's demands us to give respect for our higher powers which are ordained by God to provide safety and protection for the good of our families and communities.

We cannot control the actions of people in the world, but we can begin a movement that will hopefully affect the actions of others.  Please join me by encouraging your family members and friends to be in prayer for those who are trying to safeguard our lives.

Let's put aside politics and allow the Holy Spirit to search our hearts to do good towards our neighbors.  For we are our brother's keeper.  Life and death are in the power of the tongue.  You may not be looked upon under our current circumstances as a voice of reasoning, but we must take a stand for truth and righteousness.

When God completed his creation, he said that it was all good.  Sin is the stain that darkens the light of God's love as we are witnessing throughout our society.  As God's ambassadors for truth and justice, we must keep the wheels of justice turning in the right direction.  We can do that by expressing our love and support for those who are trying to provide law and order.

We have expressed our disdain for police brutality, now it's time for us to voice our love and respect for what the institution represents.  Will you join me by lifting them up in prayer and speaking good things about our police force?

In His Name,

Pastor Alan Gould, Sr.

Congratulations to our very own Sister Dorothy Boddie, Head of our Outreach Ministry for receiving an appreciation award on Saturday, July 11, 2020, by the Prince George's County Council in recognition for the great work she has done with the food pantry!  Kudos also to all others who have helped in this endeavor.  Since April 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Allen Chapel AME Church Outreach Ministry has picked up and delivered over 200 hot meals every Monday.  These meals have been provided to frontline workers at hospitals in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties, fire stations, post offices, nursing homes, day laborers, and the homeless.

Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow!

MEDITATION: Number Your Days*

"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom"

- Psalms 90:12
I have this habit of numbering my days: When I wake up in the morning, I make a point of thinking "Lord, this day is worth a thousand years of eternity and that means that the people I meet, the letters I write, the conversations I have...these all have value in Your sight. Teach me to measure each moment."
